Our Batana Oil comes from Honduras.  The oil is extracted from the American Palm Tree (Elaeis Oleifera).  The indigenous people of Miskito produce the oil and are called the “Tawira”, meaning people of beautiful hair.  They have been using this oil for hundreds of years.  The scent of the oil is sort of an earthy smell and will catch you off guard at first. I would say that it resembles the smell of coffee. The oil is familiar in texture to coconut oil the way it gets slightly solid at room temperature and liquefies in warmer temperatures.  The oil’s composition imparts qualities similar to Olive Oil, as it has high levels of oleic and linoleic acid with lower levels of palmitic acid and other saturated fatty acids.

Rub into your hair and scalp. Leave on your hair for at least 25 minutes. For added benefits cover with a plastic cap, get in the shower and let the steam penetrate the oil into your hair before washing it out. You can also put the oil onto your scalp and hair overnight, washing it out the following morning. You can aslo put oil in your hair and  scalp and leave it in without washing out.
